Dr. Jason White

The early years of my life were spent in South Africa. My childhood experience in rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife while visiting my grandma engendered my compassion for animals. I sailed with my parents from South Africa to Florida, visiting many ports and islands along the way.

Picture_of_Dr_White.JPGMy formative education was completed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville and became an associate veterinarian at a comprehensive small animal hospital in Orlando. I was fortunate to have strong mentors at this location, where I developed and honed my practice and clinical skills. I also performed relief veterinary work at a specialty emergency small animal hospital in Winter Haven, where I enhanced my critical care practice.

My pets are an essential part of my life and include a Pit-Bull terrier mix named Zack, a Weimeraner named Zeke, and a Manx cat named Xerxes. I also have a saltwater fish tank and spend many hours maintaining and developing this ecosystem. My hobbies include sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, and golfing. Relocating to Stuart, Florida has fulfilled my lifelong dream of settling in a coastal region to establish my practice. I am excited to be here and my goal is to provide comprehensive, cost effective care for your pet, with an emphasis in high quality medicine.

Meet our staff...

Christine- Office Manager

I moved to Martin County from Miani in 1991, and have been working with animals in various capacities ever since.  I joined the Port Salerno Animal Hospital team in March of 2004.  My husband and I share our home with a small Collie and a Sheltie.  Our Collie, and previous 2 Shelties traveled 33 states with us, and I hope our Collie and new sheltie will be able to visit many more in the coming years.

Kathy- Groomer

I have been grooming at Port Salerno Animal Hospital since November, 2010.  I was born & raised in Portsmouth, RI on a farm.  From an early age, I knew I could connect with animals.  I worked on a Thoroughbred breeding farm in early 1980's training the horses that didn't do so well on the racetrack.  I happened to answer an add for kennel help in Middletown, RI and grooming was offered to me.  I apprenticed in 1983 for two years before going professional, and have been grooming animals ever since.  I had my own pet salon for four years, but I find the hospital setting much more rewarding.  I am very thankful to have spent my life doing what I love!  We moved from RI to Florida in 1991.  I have been married for 33 years, have a grown son, and grown stepdaughter, and four wonderful grandchildren.  I have a Lab/Boxer mix named Faith, who is my little "clown" and we train in Agility.

Zeke

Zeke is Dr. White's dog, a 9yr old Weimaraner.  Zeke is very playful, and has even helped save some lives by being a blood donor.  He loves to run in the yard and chew sticks.  He is sometimes fresh and will get into things he shouldn't.  Zeke hangs out at the hospital often and is available for play time upon request.

Ashley- Receptionist

I was born and raised in Stuart, Florida and worked with Port Salerno Animal Hospital since March 2005.  Over the past few years I have also attended Indian River Sate College and Veterinary Specialty classes to pursue my goal of becoming and Equine Veterinarian.

On my days off I enjoy spending time with Chance, my handsome 24 year old Thoroughbred gelding.  After 21 years together of training, showing, and miles of trail rides, he is now a pasture horse.  He spends his days basking in the sun, grazing and playing with the miniature ponies he shares his field with.  I also own Coraline, a spunky little black cat that you will mostly likely meet when you come to the hospital.  She thoroughly enjoys picking on my 2 year old rambunctious, yet lovable Pitbull, Slugger.

Cathy (AKA Frenchie)- Receptionist

I am from France and started to work for PSAH in 2001.  I left for a few years to run an animal rescue in North Carolina.  I decided to move back to Florida and what better way to continue working with animals than to again join PSAH... VOILA!  I am the lucky owner of Calypso a Pekingese, and Marla Jean a Torotise Shell cat.

Ashleigh- Part-time Receptionist

I just started with the Port Salerno Animal Hospital team in September 2011.  I have two horses and a crazy poodle.  I am currently in school and hope to have my own Vet Practice one day.

Coraline

Coraline the kitty came to us at 6 weeks old.  She was a stray that was abandoned.  Ashley fell in love and took her home.  Coraline began to come to work with Ashley so she wasn't home alone: we all fell in love with her and let her just hang out up front.  A lot of you ask for her before asking about our staff :)  She enjoys running back and forth from the front desk to the treatment area and occasionally harassing the dogs, especially Whiskey, her Jack Russel friend that visits almost every day!

Natasha- Veterinary Technician

I have worked for PSAH since 2007.  I love all animals, and got into this field to help animals.  I think that this is a very nice facility.  We have a great doctor, and the staff is wonderful.  I do not have any pets at this time, but I have had dogs, cats, and bunnies that were all great pets.

Andrea- Veterinary Technician

I have lived here in Martin County my entire life.  My family has lived here for the past 3 generations (2 in Bell Glade, 1 in Stuart).  I have worked here at PSAH for the past 4 months, and have 2 years of experience as a Vet Assistant.  I plan to increase my knowledge in the veterinary field, and to become certified Vet Tech.  I love to fish, and enjoy going out to my property in Alabama.  :)

Beth- Veterinary Technician

I was born in MA and have moved back and forth from MA to South Florida several times in my life.  I currently live in Palm City and plan to stay there.  I love the area, and most of all love the ocean.  I have 2 children, my oldest...  Metzga , a gorgeous Congo African Gray Parrot will be 7 years old in November.  My youngest...  Gavin (a human) was born in 2008.  We have a very loud house between a toddler and a parrot; there is a lot of singing.

I have been a Veterinary Technician for almost 10 years, and have also managed two busy animal hospitals.  I was very sad to leave my practice and patients up North and love to hear from my previous clients.  I started with PSAH June 2011 and know that I will be here a long time.  I look forward to getting to know all my new patients and their parents.  I love the staff and the direction that Dr. White is taking the practice.

Barbara- Veterinary Technician- Receptionist

I have lived in Martin County since 1972 and enjoy the "small" town feel of our beautiful home.  I have worked in the veterinary field since the early 1980's.  I am currently employed full time at Pet Emergency of Martin County.  I enjoy working part time with the wonderful people at Port Salerno Animal Hospital.  I have three furry children at home; 2 cats named Cali and Lippie, and a dog named Grace.  I have chosen not to have "human" kids.  Mine never ask for the car or money! HaHa.  I hope to get to say Hi to you at Port Salerno and not the E.R.
